3 Must Do Tips When Building a Chicken Coop

by Terry on July 9, 2010

The devil may be in the detail, however there are only 3 key things you need to consider when building a Chicken Coop. These are:

1. Keep the Predators out – Whatever design you choose when building your chicken coop, you must ensure it will protect your chickens and keep predators out

2. Ensure it is easy to clean – A Chicken Coop should be easily cleaned and maintainable. If this is not the case, your chickens will suffer and they may stop laying eggs. The best looking chicken coop may not necessarily be the easiest to clean. I prefer to go with simple.

3. Keep your Chicken Coop well ventilated – A well ventilated coop will ensure that you have healthy, happy and productive chickens.

If you keep these three things in mind when building or designing your chicken coop, the detail in making your chicken coop a great one will follow!

Thanks for the tips! the one I recommend is if you live in a very wet area, try to elevate your chicken coop so it doesn’t get flooded. I found out the hard way -:)
