Chicken Waterers

Watering your Chickens

by leeannm on June 14, 2010

Chickens need clean, fresh water every day.  Unlike feeding where chickens like to get together at the same time, they will drink water by themselves throughout the day.

Waters should hold enough clean water for a day and should not get contaminated with chicken poop.

Ideally you would have plumped in water for them so that they never run out and have a constant supply of fresh water, however this can be expensive and if you live in a cold climate these pipes run the risk of freezing in winter.

Automatic waterers can also get clogged, so regardless of the type of waterer you use, they should be checked daily and cleaned and disinfected at least once a week with chlorine bleach.
